Recipe For Guacamole Dip - Make This Delicious Mexican Appetizer At Home

Guacamole with Blue Cheese and Tarragon

By now you may be aware of the basic recipe of guacamole. Some of its qualities are that it is reliable, delicious, and largely foolproof. Guacamole is formed by the Spanish words aguacate, “avocado,” and a form of the verb moler, which means in English to grind or to mash.  You may be turned off by the alligator-like skin but don’t be fooled because behind every cloud has a silver lining and its silver lining is seen in form of the creamy flesh, that almost become the butter of the vegetable world. With its rich nutritional value the avocado which is the main ingredient for the guacamole makes it a wholesome treat.

All that Tarragon does is to bring the licorice twist to this Guacamole. Tarragon which means “tongue of the dragon” does not utilizes its name to the very core because the only in this recipe comes from cayenne.

Also in the recipe chopped fresh tarragon, awakens the slumbering avocado. If you are unable to get the French tarragon you may substitute it with:
  •  Russian tarragon
  • Mexican tarragon also known as Mexican mint marigold,
  • 1/8 tsp. of ground anise or fennel seed

You may also add lemon juice, raspberry and tarragon vinegar.

Guacamole with Blue Cheese and Tarragon Ingredients

  •          2 peeled and seeded avocados
  •          1 tbs. lemon juice, or raspberry, tarragon vinegar
  •          1 tbs. light mayonnaise
  •          1/8 tsp ground cayenne pepper, 
  •          ½ cup chopped. Tarragon leaves
  •          1tsp jarred minced garlic
  •          A pinch of sea salt 
  •          Optional garnish: dried raspberries

Preparations
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mash them with a potato masher but not so much so as to make it look like puree. A good guacamole should have small chunks of avocado in the mix.
  2. Add one half cup of crumbled blue cheese to the mix and stir until combined well.
  3. Finally serve. For a greater taste serve it with blue corn tortilla chips or crudités or just all of them combined.
The French tarragon has a delicate flavor which promotes appetite and complements dishes so this guacamole recipe has a special twist to it.

Maybe one more hint - how to choose the right avocados?


Make sure they are dark green, not bright and waxy shiny.
Make sure the are a little bit soft when you press them but not to much.
Make sure they don't have many black spots and stripes.
Since avocados are the main ingredient of every guacamole they are the make or break thing when it comes to guacamole recipe.
